Privacy policy

Bahçeşehir University (BAU) takes the protection of personal data seriously. This policy explains the framework within which your personal data is processed when you use the BAU Artificial Intelligence Opportunities Platform, your rights under Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK) and how you can reach us.

Data controller

The data controller for the processing of your personal data is Bahçeşehir University. For privacy questions relating to the platform, you can contact the AI Competence Unit at ai@bau.edu.tr.

Scope

This platform is primarily an informational resource for guidance and orientation; it provides information about artificial intelligence tools, programmes, policies and opportunities. You do not need to create an account or sign in to browse the platform. Tool access, application and request processes are carried out through official BAU systems and relevant third-party services, which have their own privacy terms.

Data processed

If you use the platform only to browse, no personal data identifying you is requested. When you contact us by e-mail, the contact details and message content you share are processed solely to respond to your request. Any technical records that may be kept at server level for the proper operation of the platform (e.g. access logs) are limited to security and service-continuity purposes.

Cookies

The platform does not use tracking cookies for advertising or profiling. Only cookies that may be technically necessary for the site's core functions may be used. You can manage or block cookies at any time through your browser settings.

Processing purposes and legal basis

Personal data is processed for the purposes of responding to your requests and questions, ensuring the security and continuity of the service and fulfilling legal obligations, within the framework of the legal grounds set out in Article 5 of the KVKK. Data is retained only for as long as the purpose requires and for the retention periods prescribed by the relevant legislation.

Third-party services and links

The platform may contain links to third-party services such as BAUPRO, BAUGO, Coursera, OpenAI (ChatGPT), Microsoft and the like. When you use these services, the relevant provider's own privacy policy and terms apply. BAU is not responsible for the data practices of these services, which are beyond its control.

Data security

Reasonable administrative and technical measures are taken to prevent the unlawful processing of personal data and unauthorised access to it. Even so, we remind you that no transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure.

Your rights as a data subject

Under Article 11 of the KVKK, by applying to the data controller you have the following rights:

  • To learn whether your personal data is being processed and, if so, to request information about it
  • To learn the purpose of processing and whether the data is used in line with that purpose
  • To know the third parties, in Türkiye or abroad, to whom the data is transferred
  • To request the correction of data that has been processed incompletely or inaccurately
  • To request the erasure or destruction of the data where the conditions are met
  • To request that any correction, erasure or destruction be notified to the third parties to whom the data has been transferred
