Law, ethics and responsible AI

At BAU, AI opportunities are not limited solely to technical, pedagogical or administrative areas of use. The legal, ethical, regulatory, human rights, data protection, responsibility and compliance dimensions of AI are also addressed within the university as a distinct field of expertise.

The Center for the Application and Research of AI Law and Ethics is one of the key structures that academically nourishes BAU's approach to AI. Through AI law, AI ethics, data protection, privacy, algorithmic accountability, accountability, human rights, a rule-of-law perspective, regulatory work and awareness activities, the Center strengthens the intellectual and academic foundation of this field. Ethical review in education and research is carried out through this center.

This structure shows that, at BAU, AI is addressed not only through the question ‘what can we do?’ but also together with the questions ‘what should we do, within what limits should we do it, and with what responsibilities should we do it?’
