Generative AI in teaching and learning

Generative AI offers significant opportunities in education for personalizing the learning experience, strengthening students' preparation for class, supporting instructional design, and increasing academic productivity. At the same time, in an era when the boundaries between AI-generated and human-created content are becoming increasingly blurred, academic integrity, original contribution, source verification, and assessment fairness require special attention.

At BAU, AI-assisted learning is not positioned as a system that thinks in place of the student or completes academic work on the student's behalf. The goal is to help students understand more deeply, question more critically, produce work of higher quality, and use AI in an ethical, informed, and critical manner.

At BAU, the use of AI in courses is structured with regard to the course's learning outcomes, the framework set by the university administration for the relevant faculty, the usage limits defined by the course instructor in the syllabus, the principles of academic integrity, and the student's original contribution.
